Doc’s Eyes
“It is in our darkest moments that we must focus on the light.” – Aristotle Onassis
Merle Dean Haugen was always a giver; so when he passed in 2019 he gifted the world through organ, eye and tissue donation as a last act of his kindness. Doc saw the world with love; knowing two people were blessed with his eyes gifting them sight again gives his family some bittersweet happiness. It’s a small hope that those individuals can see the world somewhat how he always did.
Even during trying times he saw the beauty in everything, something his family has tried to carry forward in life without him.
Merle “Doc” Haugen was a fun, goofy, loving, laid back man. Although his physical heart was bad, his heart for others was bigger than life. Doc always saw the good in everyone and everything, often saying “it’ll be alright!” Although his life ended short, his legacy lives on through his family and his selfless gift of eye, organ and tissue donation. Doc was able to donate both of his kidneys, corneas and tissues, successfully helping save and change the lives of many!
Doc loved being with his family, especially his daughters, the outdoors, and any day fishing was always better than a day at work!
